The Krupp L2H143 in the Kfz.70 personnel carrier role was one of the most distinctive German military vehicles of the early war period — the Krupp Protz, as it was nicknamed, with its air-cooled flat-four engine, unusual axle arrangement, and characteristic high-clearance body was immediately recognisable on the newsreel footage of the early war campaigns. Used extensively in Poland and France before being replaced by more standardised vehicles, the Krupp Protz combined interesting engineering solutions with a practical capacity for cross-country personnel and light cargo transport. An unusual and characterful early war German vehicle that has a devoted following among enthusiasts of the pre-standardisation period.
