The MiG-17A was the standard production day fighter variant of the Fresco family, entering Soviet Air Force service in 1952 as a direct response to the performance shortcomings revealed by the MiG-15 in Korean War combat. With a longer fuselage, redesigned wing with three fences, and an afterburner in later production aircraft, the MiG-17A outperformed its predecessor at all altitudes. Exported widely to Warsaw Pact and aligned nations, the MiG-17 saw combat in the Middle East and Vietnam, where its agility gave it a surprising edge against supersonic opponents in close-in turning engagements.

There is wear on the box - See photos. Kit is complete and un-started. Instructions and decals are present.
