Pierre Clostermann was the highest-scoring French pilot of the Second World War, and his time flying Hawker Tempest Mk.Vs with 3 Squadron RAF in 1944–45 produced some of the most vivid combat accounts ever written — documented in his classic memoir “The Big Show.” Clostermann’s Tempests carried personal markings and the Cross of Lorraine insignia that identified him as a Fighting French pilot flying with the RAF, making them among the most recognisable individually-marked aircraft of the late war period. A natural subject for anyone who has read Clostermann’s writing, and a striking display model in its own right.
