The Spitfire Mk.Ia in Export and Egypt markings covers the small number of Spitfires supplied to or evaluated by foreign air forces before and during the early war period, as well as aircraft operating in the North African and Middle East theatres. Egypt received a small batch of Spitfires, and the contrast between the standard RAF European camouflage and the mid-stone desert schemes makes for a visually interesting alternative to the standard Battle of Britain subject. A less-commonly modelled chapter of Spitfire history that rewards the collector looking beyond the default 1940 schemes.
