The M7A3 BFIST — Bradley Fire Support Team Vehicle — is the specialist fire support variant of the iconic Bradley Fighting Vehicle family, designed to locate, identify, and direct artillery and close air support in the modern combined-arms battle. Introduced in the mid-2000s, the M7A3 retains the Bradley's armoured hull but replaces the standard 25mm cannon turret with a modified fire control suite, laser rangefinder, and thermal imaging systems optimised for target acquisition rather than direct engagement. It served with US Army forward observer teams in Iraq and Afghanistan, operating alongside Abrams-equipped armour to provide the eyes and coordination that multiplied lethality across the entire formation.
