Operation Jubilee — the Dieppe Raid of 19 August 1942 — was one of the costliest single-day operations in Canadian and British military history. Of the roughly 6,000 men who landed, more than 3,600 were killed, wounded, or captured. The British Commandos attached to the operation fared better than the Canadian infantry battalions that bore the brunt of the assault, but the raid as a whole became a brutal lesson in the realities of opposed amphibious landings that directly shaped Allied planning for Normandy two years later. Master Box's 1/35 scale set depicts British Commandos at Dieppe in the weapons, equipment, and Denison smocks of the period — a historically significant and dramatically charged diorama subject.
