By 1944, the southern European theatre had produced some of the most gruelling fighting of the Western Allied campaign — from Sicily through the Italian mainland, where paratroopers of both sides found themselves operating in terrain that negated much of their mobility advantage. Master Box's 1/35 scale set pairs US and German paratroopers in the equipment and uniforms of the Italian campaign period: the US M42 jump smock and T-5 parachute harness against the Luftwaffe Fallschirmjäger's distinctive splinter-pattern smock and helmet cover. A multi-nationality set that captures the quality of both adversaries' airborne forces at the point where the war in southern Europe was at its most intense.
