The Austin Mk III armoured car entered service with British and Russian forces during the First World War, offering a more robust and better-protected vehicle than its predecessors. Like the Mk IV, it mounted twin turrets with Vickers machine guns — a layout that gave it overlapping fields of fire that wheeled armoured cars of the period rarely matched. The Austin saw service on the Western Front and with Russian Imperial forces before the Revolution, and continued in use in various configurations into the 1920s. Master Box's 1/72 scale Mk III is the natural companion to the Mk IV kit, and together they represent the evolution of British wheeled armour across the Great War period.
