The Volkswagen Kübelwagen was the German military's equivalent of the Jeep — light, economical, and surprisingly capable on difficult terrain thanks to its air-cooled rear engine and high ground clearance. It served across every front on which the Wehrmacht fought, but the North African theatre gave it a particular cachet: the open desert, the dust, the heat, and the operational demands of Rommel's Afrika Korps operations made the Kübelwagen indispensable. Meng's 1/35 North Africa variant includes appropriate markings and detail for the desert theatre — a quick, satisfying build and an ideal diorama companion for any DAK subject.
