The Messerschmitt Me 410 Hornisse was Germany's attempt to produce a genuinely effective high-speed twin-engine strike aircraft — a successor to the troubled Me 210 that addressed most of its predecessor's vices and produced a capable aircraft in the heavy fighter, bomber destroyer, and reconnaissance roles. The A-1 was the initial production high-speed bomber variant, and the Me 410 found its most effective employment as a heavy fighter against USAAF bomber formations, equipped with the 50mm BK 5 cannon in some variants. Meng's 1/48 kit captures the Me 410's sleek twin-engine profile with fine surface detail and marking options for multiple operational configurations.
