The ZTZ99A/B is China's most capable main battle tank — a thoroughly modern vehicle with advanced composite armour, explosive reactive armour modules, a 125mm smoothbore gun, and an active protection system, representing the PLA's most significant armoured capability. Developed from earlier Chinese MBT designs with extensive Soviet technical influence, the ZTZ99 has been progressively upgraded and the A/B variants represent the current production standard. Meng's 1/72 kit delivers China's frontline tank in compact small-scale form, with detailed running gear, accurate turret geometry, and the ERA tile arrangement that characterises the production vehicle.
