The King Tiger with Porsche turret is the rarer of the two production variants — fitted to the first 50 vehicles completed before the Henschel turret took over the production line. Identifiable by its rounded front and distinctive shot-trap below the gun mantlet, the Porsche turret version fought in Normandy with schwere Panzerabteilung 503 and 101, and is associated with some of the most dramatic tank engagements of the summer of 1944. Meng's 1/72 kit delivers this distinctive variant in compact small-scale form, with accurate turret geometry and precise running gear detail. The natural companion to a 1/72 Henschel turret King Tiger for collectors building a complete type history.
