The New Fourth Army was a Communist Chinese military formation that fought the Japanese during the Second Sino-Japanese War — a force with a complex relationship with the Nationalist Kuomintang forces nominally on the same side, culminating in the New Fourth Army Incident of January 1941. Meng's cartoon figure series captures a New Fourth Army soldier in the equipment and dress of the period in chibi style, making it a distinctive and historically interesting addition to any collection of Asian military miniatures.
