Shandong is China's first domestically designed and built aircraft carrier, commissioned in December 2019 and marking a significant milestone in the People's Liberation Army Navy's development as a blue-water force. Unlike the earlier Liaoning, which was converted from a Soviet-era hull, Shandong was designed and constructed entirely in China, incorporating lessons from operating Liaoning and representing the first step in China's longer-term carrier aviation ambitions. Meng's Warship Builder series brings her distinctive silhouette — ski-jump bow, island superstructure, flight deck — to life in the collectible chibi format that makes these ships accessible to any enthusiast.
