The Panzer III was the intended backbone of the German armoured force — the medium tank that was supposed to engage enemy tanks while the Panzer IV dealt with infantry strongpoints. It performed that role capably in Poland, France, and North Africa, but was gradually outclassed by heavier Allied armour and eventually replaced by the Panzer IV and Panther in the anti-tank role. The Panzer III's clean, purposeful lines and distinctive overlapping roadwheels make it one of the most recognisable German tanks of the war, and Meng's World War Toons captures those features in its signature chibi style.
