The Yokosuka MXY7 Ohka — "Cherry Blossom" — was Japan's purpose-built rocket-powered kamikaze aircraft, designed from the outset as a piloted flying bomb. Carried under a Mitsubishi G4M Betty bomber and released at altitude, the Ohka was powered by three Type 4 Mk.20 solid-fuel rockets that accelerated it to speeds exceeding 600 mph in its terminal dive, making it almost impossible to intercept once released. Introduced in combat operations in 1945, the Ohka represented Japan's most technologically sophisticated response to the overwhelming Allied naval superiority in the Pacific — a weapon of absolute last resort that combined advanced aeronautical engineering with the doctrine of tokkō, or special attack. MikroMir's 1/32 scale kit captures this haunting and historically significant aircraft in substantial, display-quality detail.
