USS John Marshall (SSBN-611) was a George Washington-class ballistic missile submarine that served the US Navy through the height of the Cold War before being converted to a special operations support role. In her later configuration, John Marshall was fitted with Dry Deck Shelters — large pressurised modules mounted over hatches on the submarine's casing that could covertly deploy SEAL Delivery Vehicles and combat swimmers without surfacing. This capability made her one of the most operationally versatile submarines in US Navy service, conducting classified missions that by definition received little public acknowledgement. MikroMir's 1/350 kit captures the submarine in this distinctive special operations configuration, complete with the characteristic DDS modules that set her apart from standard ballistic missile boat silhouettes.
