The Nikitin PSN-2 was a Soviet experimental parasol-wing fighter developed in the late 1930s by designer Vasili Nikitin, part of a generation of innovative Soviet aircraft projects that emerged during the rapid expansion of the Red Air Force under Stalin's industrialisation programme. The PSN designation — Parazol Samolet Nikitin, or Nikitin Parasol Aircraft — reflected its distinctive high-wing configuration, an unusual choice for a fighter that set it apart from the mainstream Soviet monoplane designs of the era. Like many Soviet experimental types of the period, the PSN-2 remained a prototype and never entered production, making it an exceptionally rare and obscure subject that MikroMir has brought to modellers for the first time in 1/72 scale.
