The Panzergrenadiers — Germany's mechanised infantry — were the force that kept armoured advances from stalling whenever tanks ran up against infantry, anti-tank guns, or broken ground that armour alone couldn't clear. Riding into battle on Sd.Kfz. 251 half-tracks or requisitioned trucks, they operated at the sharp end of every major German offensive from 1941 onwards.
