The white camouflage cloak — a simple but effective over-garment worn over standard uniform — became one of the defining images of Soviet infantry on the Eastern Front in winter. Issued to assault troops operating in snow-covered terrain, the cloak allowed soldiers to move across open ground with a degree of concealment that the standard brown greatcoat simply couldn't provide. Soviet assault infantry wearing these cloaks spearheaded the great winter offensives that began to push the Wehrmacht westward from 1942 onwards — Stalingrad, the relief of Leningrad, the Vistula-Oder operation. MiniArt's set captures Soviet assault infantry in full winter cloak dress, in the aggressive, forward-moving poses appropriate to troops going into the attack.
