The Vickers-Armstrong VA Mk F/45 was an export light tank developed by Vickers in the mid-1930s as part of the company's extensive programme of commercial tank design and sales to foreign governments. Like other Vickers export designs of the period, the VA Mk F/45 drew on the lessons of the Vickers 6-ton and incorporated refinements aimed at the specific requirements of potential customers — it represents the private venture design philosophy that made Vickers the world's leading tank exporter in the interwar period, supplying armour to nations from Bolivia to the Soviet Union. These commercial designs rarely appear in mainstream modelling coverage, making Mirage Hobby's 1/35 kit a welcome addition to the small but growing number of kits covering the fascinating diversity of interwar tank development beyond the major powers' standard types.
