The C7P artillery tractor was captured in substantial numbers during Operation Barbarossa in 1941, when the German advance overran Polish equipment that had been absorbed into Soviet service following the partition of Poland in 1939. The Soviets had pressed captured Polish vehicles into use alongside their own equipment, and the Wehrmacht in turn captured these from Soviet depots and front-line units. The C7P's robust tracked design and towing capacity made it useful enough for the Germans to operate captured examples for rear-area logistics and artillery towing duties on the Eastern Front. This Russian-service version kit from Mirage Hobby captures the tractor in its Soviet operational context — a fascinating piece of the equipment chain that connected Poland 1939 to Barbarossa 1941 through captured and recaptured machinery.
Polish by design, Soviet by capture, German by recapture — the C7P's extraordinary journey East.
