The BAe 146 is one of the most distinctive regional airliners ever built — a high-wing, four-engine jet with an unusually quiet Avco Lycoming ALF 502 powerplant that made it the aircraft of choice for city-centre airports with strict noise restrictions, including London City and Stockholm Bromma. AirUK was one of the 146’s most enthusiastic early operators, using the type on routes across the British Isles and into continental Europe from the mid-1980s onwards before the airline was absorbed into KLM UK in 1997. The combination of the 146’s unmistakable T-tail, high wing, and four-engine layout makes it one of the more architecturally interesting airliners of its generation in 1/144 scale — an unusual and rewarding kit for anyone interested in British aviation history or regional airline subjects.
