Revell 1/72 Arado Ar-240 A-02 (04331)

The Arado Ar 240 was one of Germany’s most technically ambitious aircraft of the early Second World War period — a twin-engine heavy fighter and reconnaissance aircraft designed around the concept of a pressure cabin, remotely controlled defensive armament, and a slim, aerodynamically clean airframe. It was fast, innovative, and almost impossible to manufacture in quantity: the pressure cabin and remote gun barbettes caused persistent development problems, and the aircraft’s handling characteristics proved difficult enough that it never entered full production. Only a handful of prototypes and pre-production aircraft were built, and some saw limited operational use in the reconnaissance role over Britain and the Mediterranean. The Ar 240 remains one of the more obscure and technically interesting dead-ends of wartime German aviation. Revell’s 1/72 kit covers this rarely modelled subject.
