Revell 1/72 F-4 U-1 Corsair (04112)

The Vought F4U Corsair’s inverted gull wing — designed to accommodate the massive three-bladed propeller driven by its Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp engine — made it one of the most distinctive aircraft of the Second World War. Initially rejected by the US Navy for carrier operations because of poor forward visibility on approach, the Corsair found its first combat home with the US Marines, who used it with devastating effect over Guadalcanal and the Solomon Islands from 1943 onwards. The F4U-1 was the initial production variant, and in its hands pilots like Gregory “Pappy” Boyington’s Black Sheep Squadron built a reputation as one of the most capable fighter units in the Pacific Theatre. Revell’s 1/72 kit captures this iconic variant in a compact, manageable scale.
