Revell 1/72 Heinkel He 219 Owl Dreaded Radar-Equipped World War II Night Fighter! (H-112)

The Heinkel He 219 Uhu (Owl) was the Luftwaffe’s most capable dedicated night fighter of the Second World War — a purpose-designed, radar-equipped twin-engine aircraft that out-performed anything the RAF could put up against it in night combat. Its first operational sortie in June 1943 shot down five RAF Lancasters in thirty minutes, including some of the notoriously difficult-to-catch de Havilland Mosquitoes. The He 219 was the first Luftwaffe aircraft to carry the Schräge Musik upward-firing cannon installation in production, and its performance was so impressive that RAF intelligence reports treated it with considerable concern. Despite all this, production was kept deliberately limited — partly through inter-service politics and partly because Erhard Milch preferred to concentrate on proven designs. This is an older American Revell release (kit number H-112) — the H-series prefix identifies it as a Revell Inc. (US) tooling rather than Revell Germany.
