Special Armour 1/72 Vidalwagen Road V-2 Transporter (SA72009)

The Vidalwagen was the road transporter purpose-built to move the A-4 (V-2) ballistic missile overland between its storage depots and launch sites — a large, specially designed vehicle that formed an essential but rarely depicted element of the entire V-weapon logistics chain. Moving a 14-metre, 12.5-tonne missile by road demanded a vehicle of considerable capability and careful engineering; the Vidalwagen’s low-loader trailer with its articulated support cradle solved the problem and allowed the V-2 campaign to be conducted from dispersed road-mobile positions that were far harder for Allied intelligence to locate and target than fixed launch installations. Special Armour’s 1/72 kit is one of the very few injection-moulded models of this large and historically significant vehicle.
