Built with racing in mind
Introduced in 1987, the RC30 was developed as a homologation special: a road-going motorcycle created to provide the foundation for competition. Its 748cc V4 engine, gear-driven camshafts and distinctive single-sided swingarm reflected Honda's commitment to engineering a machine with serious racing potential.
The RC30 became closely associated with the opening years of the World Superbike Championship. Fred Merkel won the inaugural riders' title in 1988 and retained it in 1989 aboard an RC30, establishing the motorcycle's place in superbike history.
A classic for the display shelf
The fully faired bodywork and compact sporting stance capture an era when race-developed technology was reshaping road motorcycles.
