The M10 IIC Achilles was the British conversion of the American M10 tank destroyer, replacing the original 3-inch M7 gun with the formidable 17-pounder anti-tank gun — the most powerful Allied anti-tank weapon of the war, capable of defeating the Tiger I frontally at battle ranges and the Panther at closer distances. British and Polish units used the Achilles in Northwest Europe from Normandy to the Rhine, and it was the Achilles that provided the anti-Tiger capability that M10-equipped US units lacked. Tamiya’s 1/35 kit captures the distinctive 17-pounder conversion with its muzzle brake and modified gun cradle.
