The Universal Carrier — universally known as the Bren Carrier — was the British Army's ubiquitous light tracked vehicle, serving in every theatre of the war in a range of roles from infantry weapon carrier to artillery tractor, reconnaissance vehicle, and improvised anti-tank platform. The Forced Reconnaissance variant carried additional armament for the aggressive patrol role, pushing into enemy territory to gather intelligence by contact. Built by several manufacturers in Britain, Canada, and Australia in numbers exceeding 113,000 vehicles, the Carrier was one of the most produced armoured vehicles of the war. Tamiya's 1/35 kit covers the Forced Reconnaissance configuration.
