The 8.8cm FlaK 36/37 is the most famous artillery piece of the Second World War — a dual-purpose anti-aircraft and anti-tank gun whose ability to defeat any Allied tank at combat ranges made it the Wehrmacht's most feared weapon on the ground. Originally designed for anti-aircraft use, its high muzzle velocity and flat trajectory made it devastating against armour, and from North Africa to Normandy the 88mm — in its towed Flak configuration or mounted in the Tiger I and II — was the weapon Allied tank crews most feared. Tamiya's 1/35 kit of the FlaK 36/37 in its towed ground-firing configuration is a classic model of this iconic weapon.
