The King Tiger with Porsche Turret covers the fifty early-production Tiger IIs fitted with the curved-mantlet pre-production turret, originally intended for the Porsche competing design that lost the production contract. These tanks saw action from June 1944 in Normandy and on the Eastern Front, and their distinctive rounded turret face makes them immediately identifiable from the later Henschel production turret vehicles. Tamiya’s 1/35 Porsche Turret King Tiger is the companion piece to their Production Turret kit, together covering both major Tiger II configurations.
