The Tiger I Early Production covers the Ausf. E in its initial configuration as it entered service at Leningrad in August 1942 — without zimmerit, with the drum-style commander’s cupola, rubber-tyred road wheels throughout, and the distinctive Feifel air filter system on the rear. This was the Tiger that first shocked Allied crews with its combination of the 8.8cm KwK 36 gun and armour that deflected most Allied anti-tank rounds at normal combat ranges. Tamiya’s 1/35 Early Production kit captures this historically significant configuration with the detail fidelity that made their Tiger family the benchmark for the subject.
