The Grumman F11F-1 Tiger was a supersonic carrier fighter that had a brief frontline career but an enduring legacy as the mount of the US Navy Blue Angels display team from 1957 to 1969 — the longest tenure of any aircraft in Blue Angels history. The Tiger’s sleek area-ruled fuselage and distinctive nose gave it one of the most elegant profiles of any American jet fighter, and the Blue Angels’ dark blue and gold livery suited it perfectly. The Tiger also holds the unusual distinction of being the first aircraft to shoot itself down — test pilot Tom Attridge fired his guns in a dive and flew through his own bullets on the way down.
This kit is still factory film sealed.
