The Douglas A4D Skyhawk — later redesignated A-4 — was Ed Heinemann’s masterpiece of efficient design: a carrier attack jet that came in at less than half the Navy’s specified weight limit and remained in frontline service for over forty years. The A4D-1 was the initial production variant, entering US Navy service in 1956 and introducing the Skyhawk’s characteristic small delta wing, hump-backed fuselage, and inflight refuelling probe. This Lindberg kit features the unusual selling point of moveable flight controls and a scale jet engine replica — the kind of interactive gimmick that made 1950s model kits genuinely exciting to a generation of young builders.
This is a vintage kit from 1958, and it shows signs of its age - see photos. Kit is complete and un-started. Instructions and decals are missing. Instructions can be downloaded from Scalemates or similar.
