The North American F-86A Sabre was America’s answer to the swept-wing MiG-15, rushed into service over Korea in December 1950 and immediately establishing air superiority in the hands of experienced USAF pilots. The A model was the initial production variant with the General Electric J47 engine and radar-ranging gunsight, and Sabre pilots flying the F-86A achieved kill ratios against the MiG-15 that have been debated ever since. The Sabre’s sleek lines and fighter pilot glamour made it one of the defining images of the early Cold War, and it went on to serve with over thirty air forces worldwide.
This kit is still factory film sealed. There is slight dishing of the box lid.
