HMS Astute is the lead boat of the Royal Navy’s Astute class — the most capable nuclear-powered attack submarines ever operated by the Royal Navy, displacing 7,400 tonnes submerged and armed with Spearfish torpedoes and Tomahawk land-attack cruise missiles. The Astute class’s Sonar 2076 system is widely considered the most capable submarine sonar in service with any navy in the world, and the class’s nuclear reactor requires no refuelling for the lifetime of the boat. Trumpeter’s 1/144 kit captures the distinctive Astute-class hull and fin profile in a scale that allows clear representation of the external fittings and hull form.
