Trumpeter 1/35 Challenger 2 KFOR Kosovo with Dozer Blade (00345)

Challenger 2 on peace-support duty

Trumpeter’s 1/35 scale kit depicts the British Challenger 2 main battle tank in its KFOR Kosovo configuration with a dozer blade. Kit 00345 offers a distinctive subject from an early operational deployment of the tank, combining modern British armour with the setting of a multinational peace-support mission.

Historical background

Challenger 2 entered British Army service in the 1990s as the successor to Challenger 1. Designed by Vickers, it combined a 120mm rifled main gun with advanced armour protection and became the British Army’s principal main battle tank.

British Challenger 2 tanks deployed to Kosovo in 1999 as part of KFOR, the NATO-led Kosovo Force. The mission focused on establishing a safe and secure environment following the conflict. Heavy armour provided a visible deterrent and supported the force’s security duties, making the deployment an important chapter in Challenger 2’s early service history.

The dozer blade distinguishes the configuration represented by this release. Equipment of this kind gave a tank additional utility for earthmoving and preparing positions, providing a modelling subject that differs from a standard gun tank. The Kosovo setting also offers an alternative to the desert operations often associated with modern British armour.
