HMS Dreadnought of 1906 was the ship that made every other battleship in the world obsolete overnight — her all-big-gun armament of ten 12-inch guns in five twin turrets, steam turbine propulsion, and speed of 21 knots so outclassed every existing capital ship that the entire class of pre-dreadnought battleships became immediately redundant, and the naval arms race she triggered reshaped the balance of power before the First World War. Her 1907 configuration represents the ship in her early service form, and the Dreadnought-type battleship she defined remained the dominant capital ship concept until the aircraft carrier supplanted it. Trumpeter’s 1/700 kit captures this world-changing vessel at the start of her career.
