HMS Eskimo was a Tribal-class destroyer that survived one of the most dramatic incidents of the Norwegian campaign — at the Second Battle of Narvik on 13 April 1940, she had her entire bow blown off by a German torpedo and yet was able to withdraw under her own power to be repaired and return to service. The Tribal class were the most heavily armed British destroyers of the war — eight 4.7-inch guns giving them surface firepower to match light cruisers — and Eskimo’s survival and return to service after Narvik exemplified the resilience of the design. Trumpeter’s 1/700 kit captures her in her 1941 configuration after repair.

The destroyer that lost her bow at Narvik and came back — HMS Eskimo 1941 in 1/700 scale.
