HMS Warspite in her 1915 configuration represents the ship as she fought at the Battle of Jutland on 31 May 1916 — one of the Queen Elizabeth-class fast battleships whose 15-inch guns and 25-knot speed gave them a decisive advantage over the older pre-dreadnoughts of the Grand Fleet. At Jutland Warspite famously steered in a circle under heavy German fire due to a jammed helm, drawing fire away from other British ships while absorbing punishment that would have sunk lesser vessels. Her survival became legend, and she went on to fight in the Second World War as one of the most battle-experienced ships in the Royal Navy. Trumpeter’s 1/700 kit captures her original First World War appearance.
