USS Maryland BB-46 was a Colorado-class battleship that was present at Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941 — moored inboard of USS Oklahoma, she was partially shielded from the torpedo attack that capsized her sister ship, suffering bomb damage that was repaired in just a few weeks before she returned to the Pacific campaign. Maryland went on to serve at Tarawa, the Philippines, Leyte Gulf, Okinawa, and the final shore bombardment operations against the Japanese home islands, accumulating a distinguished combat record across four years of Pacific warfare. Trumpeter’s 1/700 kit captures her in the 1945 configuration that reflects her accumulated wartime modifications.
