The AS-90 is the British Army’s self-propelled artillery system — a 155mm/39 calibre howitzer mounted on a fully tracked hull with an automatic loading system capable of firing three rounds in ten seconds or sustained fire of two rounds per minute. Entering service in 1993, the AS-90 provides the Royal Horse Artillery and Royal Artillery with a mobile, armoured artillery capability suited to the fast-moving combined arms operations of modern warfare. Variants with the longer 52-calibre barrel designated Braveheart were developed for export. Trumpeter’s 1/72 kit captures the standard AS-90 with accurate hull and turret detail in the compact scale suited to wargaming and collection display.
