The PMG-1 was a Soviet fire engine based on the GAZ-AA truck chassis, one of the standard airfield and garrison fire appliances of the Red Army in the 1930s and war years. Airfield fire vehicles are an often-overlooked but visually distinctive element of any airfield diorama scene — every military airfield of the period maintained crash and fire cover, and the PMG-1 represents the Soviet solution to that requirement. In 1/48 scale this is an ideal companion piece for Soviet aircraft dioramas, adding an authentic and less commonly modelled element to any Red Army air base scene. UM Models’ kit captures this unusual specialist vehicle.
