The BA-3 was an early Soviet medium armoured car of the early 1930s — one of the first Soviet armoured cars to mount the 37mm Hotchkiss gun in a rotating turret, predating the more capable 45mm-armed BA-6 and BA-10 that followed it. The BA-3 served in the rapid motorisation of the Red Army during the first Five Year Plan and saw service in the early 1930s before being gradually replaced by more capable vehicles. It represents the pioneering phase of Soviet armoured car development, when the Red Army was building its motorised force almost from scratch. UM Models’ 1/72 kit captures this early Soviet armoured car for collectors of interwar subjects.
