The Swedish Stormartillerivagn m/43 — assault SPG of 1943 — was Sweden’s domestically produced self-propelled assault gun, developed in response to the difficulty of importing armoured vehicles during the wartime blockade. Armed with a 75mm gun in a fixed casemate superstructure on a tracked chassis, the m/43 followed the European assault gun concept of providing direct fire support to infantry. Sweden’s wartime neutrality required the development of a credible domestic armoured force, and the m/43 was part of that effort. UM Models’ 1/72 kit captures this less commonly modelled Scandinavian armoured vehicle for collectors seeking unusual subjects.
