The M4A3E2 Sherman “Jumbo” was a heavily armoured assault tank version of the Sherman — produced in a batch of 254 vehicles specifically for the assault on fortified positions in the Siegfried Line, with frontal armour increased to 152mm and the turret armour thickened to 152mm front and 63mm sides. The Jumbo was not a production design but an urgent operational expedient — the heaviest protected Sherman ever built, capable of leading attacks against positions that would have disabled a standard Sherman. Crews prized them highly, and commanders stretched their allocation across entire divisions rather than concentrating them. UM Models’ 1/72 kit captures the distinctive uparmoured Jumbo in compact scale.
