The Panzerkampfwagen IV Ausf. B was an early variant of Germany’s most important tank of the Second World War — the only German tank to remain in continuous production from 1936 to 1945 and the workhorse of the panzer divisions across every theatre. The Ausf. B featured the improved Maybach HL 120 engine and a revised hull shape that distinguished it from the Ausf. A, and was armed with the short 75mm KwK 37 howitzer intended for close support rather than anti-tank work. Ausf. B vehicles served in Poland and France, part of the early panzer force that shocked the world with the speed of its victories. UM Models’ 1/72 kit captures this early Panzer IV in its pre-war configuration.
