The T-34-3 designation in Soviet nomenclature refers to a specific configuration of the T-34, the tank that transformed the Eastern Front when it appeared in 1941 and that remained the backbone of Soviet armoured power through to the war’s end. The T-34 combined sloped armour, wide tracks for cross-country mobility, and a powerful diesel engine in a design that outclassed the German tanks of 1941 in protection and firepower, though initial Soviet tactical handling failed to exploit these advantages. Subsequent development produced the upgunned T-34/85 that carried the war to Berlin. UM Models’ 1/72 kit captures this T-34 variant in compact small-scale form.
