The M32 Tank Recovery Vehicle was the US Army’s standard armoured recovery vehicle of the Second World War, built on the M4 Sherman hull with the turret replaced by a fixed superstructure mounting a winch, an A-frame jib, and a 60,000lb capacity to drag disabled tanks from ditches, mud, and shell craters under fire. The M32A1B3 variant used the M4A3 hull with the HVSS suspension, providing improved cross-country mobility. Tank recovery vehicles were essential to maintaining the armoured tempo of operations — every tank retrieved from the battlefield was potentially a tank that could fight again. UM Models’ 1/72 kit captures this important armoured recovery vehicle variant.
